Daily Dual Drive Bike Blog by ken haan

So, the past few days have been quite frustrating to say the least! Trying to render or publish a movie that I made in windows movie maker is pretty much impossible. Making the movie and adding clips, transitions and music was the fun part. My son then sends me his old G5 MAC desktop. The fun times began. The computer would not fire up at all. Not being familiar with apple I dropped the computer off at my wife’ s work-place. They are apple experts. It fired right up of course and while it was there the G5 worked perfectly. I took it home and got nothing again. After six hours into this mess I gave up. The water cooled area (what is it a car?) was found to be leaking for a long time and is and was causing intermittent electrical problems! Nice!

So I’m off to the store to purchase an Acer speedy desktop from Best buy! Wish me luck!

I am trying to get a “movie” published for the video needed for one of the crowd-funding platforms to raise money for my new crossfit bicycle. see http://www.dualdrivebike.com

The drift is north my friends…….

  1. Dual Drive Bike Project status…..in waiting mode, my CNC guy cannot get to my project for three weeks….not acceptable. So, I am am on the hunt for a CNC shop that needs work. Set my new computer up and it flies. The rendering of videos should be a better experience I hope!

  2. Just dropped off some gears to be cut at another CNC machine shop that said they could get on my project on Monday. WE shall see. Meanwhile, I am leaning Cyberlink Power director 11 editing program. It seems pretty cool with lots of neat things you can add to your movie. You will see the results next week as I hope to render and post to you tube. I plan on posting video on a regular basis so have to lean this program and get smooth with it.

  3. Ken, I’ve been working on a hand-crank conversion kit for bicycles for a while. I’ve seen various hand-crank conversions on upright bikes, but no ready-made kit. I was a little dismayed to see your design because it achieves all of the goals of my designs. You have a good and marketable product and you beat me to it. Great job, and I will be looking for you on Shark Tank or your kit in stores. If you don’t mind me asking, what was your design time and cost to your current product?

  4. Hi Andrew,
My design time and money spent is still ongoing. It has been over a year. I jury-rigged my way into spending as little as possible on Prototype development. I used PVC tees as a top case to hold the driver gear and pinion. I continue to work on this bike Project every day. It is my passion and I thoroughly enjoy this stage of the game. The most expensive part is hiring USA machinists that will actually do the work in a timely fashion….very frustrating. Using Odesk for drawings and Cad work has saved me a ton of cash. I am pretty much ready for mass production right now. I just have to raise the money. I will probably use “Indiegogo” for crowd funding. I have to outlay a bunch of cash for molds now. I won’t go on Shark Tank until I have a year of escalating sales under my belt. They destroy people with no sales! lol
